The compact is a first for Indiana, where Four Winds is the only tribal casino operating on federally designated land. Indiana’s other casinos are commercial operations that are licensed. Version 2.110.0.
Today, the Michigan Gaming Control Board authorized its 11th online gaming and sports betting operator. Following the authorization, Four Winds Casinos and partner Pala Interactive launched online casino and online sports betting at noon on February 15, 2021.
Four Winds Casinos in Michigan are operated by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. Currently, 11 operators are authorized to provide both online casinos and online sportsbooks in Michigan. The 12th operator, Lac Vieux Desert Tribe, is partnered with PointsBet and is only authorized to provide online sports betting in Michigan.

“We welcome the addition of Four Winds Casinos and Pala Interactive to Michigan’s growing online gaming and sports wagering market,” said Richard S. Kalm, MGCB executive director. “Their participation will generate revenue to support education, economic development and the Pokagon Band’s tribal community.”

Four Winds Casinos And Pala Interactive
Michigan is home to three casinos operated by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. Michigan gamblers can visit Four Winds Casinos in Dowagiac, Hartford, and New Buffalo.
Pala Interactive is a growing company in the interactive gambling space. The organization offers sports betting and online gambling products to companies looking to launch in legal markets. Michigan marks Pala Casino’s second state. The company is already live in New Jersey with sports betting and online casino via a license from partner, Borgata Hotel and Casino.
Michigan Works is planning a virtual hiring event for this month. Business account manager Paul Brohman tells WSJM News this will be for positions at Four Winds Casino locations around southwest Michigan. The hiring event will consist of phone interviews between Four Winds managers and job seekers.
“We market the positions, we market the companies, kind of sell the culture a little bit,” Brohman said. “Job seekers who are interested can sign up for a 15 minute phone interview. So they’re guaranteed a phone interview to talk to a hiringagent from that company.”
Brohman says this is not a situation where someone submits a resume and no one at the company ever sees it. Here, the applicants will talk directly with the company.

“Really, it’s just a first impression. Instead of meeting somebody face to face at a group interview or standing across the table at a mock interview, this is a little less intrusive.”

Brohman says Michigan Works thinks this will be more popular than the job fairs or Zoom meetings we’ve known in the past. The hiring event will be February 26 from noon to 3 p.m. and those who want to take part can register at MIWorks.org/Virtual-Job-Fairs.
